Open Enrollment for the 2026–2027 plan year is now closed. Benefit elections made during Open Enrollment are effective July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027.

The next annual Open Enrollment will be held in spring 2027, with elections effective July 1, 2027.

Making Changes During the Plan Year

Outside of Open Enrollment, benefit elections generally may only be changed within 31 calendar days of an eligible qualifying life event. Visit the Change My Benefits page for information about qualifying events, documentation requirements, and deadlines.

Review Your Benefit Deductions

Review your pay advice regularly, particularly following Open Enrollment or any benefit change. If your benefit deductions are missing or appear incorrect, contact Benefit Services through help.nmsu.edu as soon as possible.

Keep Your Dependents Up to Date

Employees are responsible for notifying Benefit Services and removing dependents who are no longer eligible for coverage within 31 calendar days of the event that causes the dependent to lose eligibility.

Failure to timely remove an ineligible dependent may result in loss of eligibility to participate in NMSU health benefits and financial responsibility for claims paid on behalf of the ineligible dependent.
