Counseling Services for NMSU Employees

The NMSU Employee Assistance Program is the principle provider of confidential counseling for faculty and staff experiencing personal and work related issues affecting their job performance. Faculty and staff experiencing issues with alcohol and or drug abuse are encouraged to contact NMSU EAP. Faculty and staff’s spouse or significant other are also eligible for services. There is no cost for counseling.

NMSU EAP also provides consultation for department heads and supervisors concerning identification and intervention of faculty and staff experiencing personal/work issues affecting their job performance.

Alternative Assistance

    The state of New Mexico Risk Management Division, who owns and administers the medical, prescription and dental plans that NMSU participates in, is offering a service to all employees. Well-Being Solutions, the new Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for the State of New Mexico is providing services to eligible employees and their family members.

The state of New Mexico EAP services provide up to five free, confidential counseling sessions per occurrence. Family members living in the same household with the employee and eligible dependents may also utilize the EAP services, free of charge. Participants will have access 24/7/365 via telephone. There are many services available and we encourage our employees to explore the website to become familiar with all that is there when it is needed most.

Employee Assistance Program Free Webinars

Your Well-Being Solutions Employee Assistance Program provided by ComPsych® offers Live interactive workshops that provide valuable learning for the New Mexico State University employees.

Topics are designed and written by an internal staff of psychologists and adult learning experts. These 45-60 minute programs are informative and engaging.

Live drop-in meditation breaks every Thursday

With all the stressors we face today, creating peace and centering is a great tool to help us get through it all, and just 20 minutes can make a huge difference. Available to any state of New Mexico/local public body employee, Presbyterian Health Plan is offering the opportunity of a weekly live 20-minute meditation. Each mindful meditation session will be led by Michelle DuVal, director of The Mindful Center, and held Thursdays. These sessions are designed to relieve stress, calm anxiety, help us relax and most importantly help us feel good.

This is available to employees with medical benefits, but registration is required in order to receive the link to join. Once registered, employees can access the weekly 20-minute drop-in meditation any Thursday they are available from noon to 12:20 p.m.
