The State of New Mexico Risk Management Division, who administers the medical plans that NMSU employees participate in, is offering Free Preventive Health Checkups across New Mexico. Please visit https://www.mybenefitsnm.com/wellnessprogram.htm for a list of upcoming events. Dates for NMSU have been scheduled for:

  • NMSU – Carlsbad – April 7 and 8, 2016
  • NMSU – Grants – April 19, 2016
  • NMSU – Health and Social Sciences College – April 18-22, 2016 and May 17-20, 2016

Scheduling an Appointment: Please note the registration process is more comprehensive than previous years. You will need to create a login and password, as well as answer general health questions. Medical Insurance Plans Available through NMSU

Eligibility

This benefit is available to eligible employees and their dependents. Eligible employees are considered regular status employees and non-regular term appointment employees. Eligible dependents may include spouse, qualified domestic partner, children to age 26 (the end of the month in which age 26 is attained), and disabled children age 26 or older.

Enrollment

New eligible employees may enroll by completing and submitting the Benefit Enrollment Form within their first 31 days of employment. Benefits are effective the first pay period after 30 days of employment. Otherwise, existing employees may enroll annually during the open enrollment process (fall) or due to a change in status/qualifying event.

NMSU Medical Insurance Plans

Coverage is offered through the State of New Mexico’s benefit program. The State of New Mexico has contracted with ERISA, a third party administrator (ph: 855-618-1800), to manage the medical and dental programs. Employee premium contributions are based on employee’s annual salary and a percentage of the total premium cost is paid by the University. Employees may choose between the following NMSU offered plans:

Important Changes for 2016

Effective January 1, 2016 participants will no longer have to meet the out of pocket deductible for specialist office visits. Participants will only be responsible for the office visit copay.
