The objective of this program is to offer employees affordable coverage that will provide meaningful benefits for most long-term care expenses. This insurance is intended to complement health care plans by providing benefits for extended care resulting from long-term, chronic illnesses or injuries that Medicare and health care plans are not designed to cover. Long-term care insurance helps offset the costs of care that a person may need at home, in an adult day care center, a nursing home or in an assisted living/residential care facility. Long-term care consists mostly of “custodial care,” or assistance with daily activities, such as bathing and dressing, rather than medical care that would be covered by insurance such as Medicare or a health plan.
Please note that Care or confinement that is the result of a pre-existing condition when such care or confinement begins within six months following your certificate date will not be covered if you apply under the guaranteed acceptance or simplified underwriting.
